The RCS – Rich Communications Services initiative – is one of the most interesting guidelines for this evolution.
Initiative that actually starts from afar: precisely since 2007, when a pool of companies set up the “Rich Communication Suite” project. Soon the initiative went under the auspices of the GSM Association, now GSMA.
At present, 47 mobile operators (along with 11 manufacturers and 2 OS vendors, Microsoft and Google) are launching the RCS service for about 4.7 billion users. At the moment, there are 150 service-compatible devices.
RCS specifications have been designed to simplify both product development and the implementation of new generation communications operators.
The RCS messaging market, as shown in the graph below, is certainly endowed with great potential.

Google Jibe Cloud Platform represents an implementation of the RCS profile, created to support and facilitate the implementation of the same large-scale.
