During the first Semester of 2014 the market of Mobile Finances in Italy incresed by 30% in terms of volumes with regards to the same period of the last year. The result is even better than the first quarter of 2014 (+20% in comparison to Q1 2013). The usage of SMS reated banking services keeps on growing among the customer base, as well as the adoption of some crucial services, such as transaction alerts on plastic cards (credit, debit and prepaid) and bank accounts alerts.
During the first six months of 2014 the volume of SMS sent by the panel of monitored Italian banks reached 248,2 million, +30% in comparison to 198,6 million of SMS sent in the same period of 2013.
The results of the first Semester of 2014 confirm the communication benefits for SMS offered by the Italian banks to their final clients, as well as important security and anti-fraud function of these services.
The constant increase in terms of volumes of SMS Banking alerts is a reverse trend to the latest data published by AgCom (the Italian Authority for Communication Guarantees) in its latest yearly report published on July 15th. According to the AgCom report the last year has been particularly difficult for the whole TLC market in Italy. In particular the telecommunication segment has decreased of 8,79% with an even worst result for the mobile network (-11,2%). This confirms the strong position of the A2P3 SMS services which are currently one of the best channels of communication between companies and end-users in various industries, difficult to replace by other means, often limited by technological barriers.
